English Standard Version

21 His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. (Ps 28:3; Ps 57:4; Pr 5:3) 

New International Version

21 His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords. 

New International Reader’s Version

21 His talk is as smooth as butter. But he has war in his heart. His words flow like olive oil. But they are like swords ready for battle. 

King James Version

21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
